John J. DufonMay 9, 1929 ~ February 3, 2017 (age 87)
John Dufon, age 87 of Dorr, passed in his sleep February 3, 2017 at his winter home in Bradenton, Florida. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Dufon, his parents, and three sisters. John was born in Free Soil, Michigan on May 9, 1929. He met his loving wife, Renee, while working on the Ludington car ferry. John proudly served his country In the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He and Renee then moved to Grand Rapids, where John began working for Lear Siegler, and later Smith Industries, as a Senior Engineer. He was a life-time member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post #127. John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Renee, his daughter Marjorie, five grandchildren - Jason, Julie, Danielle, Christopher and Janelle, and a great-grandson Paul, all of whom he adored. A time to visit with John’s family will be held from 1 to 3 pm Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home (Dorr Chapel), 4330 18th St., Dorr, Michigan, with a Rosary to be held at 3 pm. Immediately following visitation for John, all are invited to the Dorr American Legion Post #127 for Military Honors and a luncheon.
