Michael David Gensler, age 65, rocked his way to the Lord on January 31,2018. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty of 45 years and his children Angela Gensler, Michael and Tania Gensler, Mystia Bast, his eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his siblings Terri (Len) Brown, and Pat (Brenda) Gensler, Betty's siblings Linda (Mel) Stoepker, Howard (Linda) Stephans, Diane (Larry) Reed, Denise (Tim) Connor, and many nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Dolores Gensler; daughter Tonya Gensler and in-laws Gary and Bonnie Funk, and Gene Stephans. Mike loved music and was truly a gifted musician. He touched many lives with his great sense of humor and his way to make people laugh.
Michael loved comedy and joking around. He rarely smiled for a picture; it was always a goofy face. Mike played the drums in many different bands over the years, and especially loved Jazz. Mike was a gifted carpenter. One of his favorite annual events was the Stephans family golf outing. He was a dedicated Detroit Tigers fan.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday, February 4, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Dorr, 4330 18th St. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, February 5 at St. Mary’s Visitation Parish, 2459 146th Ave. in Byron Center. There will not be a public visitation prior to the service Monday. Father Christopher Derda and Father Stephen Rodrigo will officiate the service. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In honor of Michael, contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic School.
