John “LJ” Long, age 59, has begun the next great adventure of his life. He left this great Earth on Tuesday August 6,2019 to take his place next to family and friends who have gone before him.
LJ, son of the late Gilman and Harriet Long, was born on December 16, 1959 in Danville, Vermont. He later served in the Navy as an electrician’s mate aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Dyess. Most recently, he worked for Schneider Electric for twelve years.
He is survived by his son Patrick Long (Dena), Grandson Parker Long, daughters Amanda and Brittany Long, and siblings Kim White and Jason Long.
He also leaves behind “The Love of His Life,” Melissa Miller, who shared in the happiness of everyday’s new beginnings, and the joy of time spent with her and family. LJ was also a great father figure to Kenneth (Hannah), Jillian, Jennah, and Kyle Miller. He also played an active role in the lives of grandchildren Isabella and Kenneth Miller, and Lyliah and Liam Palomo.
LJ’s favorite past times were going to Mike Massé concerts, Kyle’s football games, and Jennah’s volleyball games. He also took great pride in renovating his Rec Room. His greatest joy was riding his bike, “Black Beauty”, in charity runs with Melissa.
